We have been home for two weeks and we still have mixed
emotions. It sure was hard taking off our missionary name tags after we
were released as missionaries. However,
it is nice to be home and sleep in our own bed and be able to visit with our
family, friends, and neighbors, 😄but....we still miss Nauvoo!🙁 During General Conference this past weekend, every time
Nauvoo was mentioned we would look at each other and say: "I miss
Nauvoo!"🙁
We got home
on a Monday and on Tuesday morning we were in the Reno Temple. On the way
home, we attended the Winter Quarters and Fort Collins Temple but we were
anxious to get back to our small special Reno Temple. Including the Nauvoo
Temple, we were in four different temples in a little over a week. We
decided that it doesn't really matter which Temple we attend, we still feel of
the Savior's love for us in all of them. President Weed has called us to
serve again in the Reno Temple.
Life is almost
back to normal. Our Bishop called us into his office before sacrament
meeting on the first Sunday we were home and put us right to work. As my
Dad would say: "There is no rest for the wicked and the righteous
don't need any!" I will be serving as the secretary of the Relief Society
and Neil will be serving as Assistant Ward Mission Leader. Both callings
are something that neither of us have served in, so we will have a learning
curve, but we both are anxious to serve our Savior to the best of our
abilities. I'm also going to work in the Family History Center on Neil
Road in Reno on Wednesdays from 12-2pm. I'm anxious so share some of the
tips I learned in our class in Nauvoo.
This week we will
be busy trying to find closet space and picture space for all the extras we
bought in Nauvoo but the main goal is to prepare for our talks for church. We will be speaking this Sunday on our
mission. Our Sparks Grandkids and some of the Henderson Grandkids will
also sing a musical number called: I Will be What I Believe. I'm
sure they will do great. All of you are invited to attend the
meeting.

As you could tell
from our blog posts, the experiences we have had serving our mission will be
something we will cherish forever. All
these experiences have made a tremendous difference in our lives.
Thank
you all for your love and support,
Neil
and Barbara
