ARRIVED

We only took the scenic route twice but we finally drove into Arrival Center parking lot at 2:02pm where we were welcomed by President and Sister Irion and their counselors and our host couple.  We received our white notebook with lots of information and our name tags.  They are pretty cool with the temple on them.  After a brief training session with Sister Irion and Elder and Sister Wahlquist, the Wahlquists showed us around town, showed us the mailroom, and then our apartment.  We live on Parley Street.  Sis. Irion told us there was lots of history on this street where lots of saints walked along this street to get to the Mississippi River.

We are almost moved in (just a few more minor items to find a spot for.  We had to change into Missionary Attire before we went to Keokok, Iowa to Walmart.  As I put my name tag on, I got this special feeling come over me.  The responsibility that goes with that name tag is awesome.

As we were shopping at Walmart, we met quite a few “newbies” doing the same shopping as us.  Everyone is very friendly and helpful.  As we drove up to the apartment, Elder Peck, our neighbor, came out and helped us bring in the groceries.  Tomorrow we meet at the Temple at 2:30 where we will get a tour of the Temple and get set apart as Ordinance Workers in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.

Our mailing address is:  P.O. Box 310 Nauvoo, IL 62354-0310 or 50 N. Wells Nauvoo, Il 62354 for items which cannot be delivered to a post office box.  They cautioned to not send packages to Mom & Dad or Grandma & Grandpa because there are lots of them here.

Our missionary email is:  neil.talbot@myldsmail.net and barbara.talbot@myldsmail.net.  But we will still check our regular emails.

Attached are pictures:  The bridge we crossed over the Mississippi River to Illinois, our apartment and our distinctive missionary name tags.
